Important checks | How to use

Important checks
- Make sure the condom is not past the use by date.

- Only use condoms with the CE or BSI kitemark on.

- Remove sharp edged objects such as rings which may split the condom.

- If the packaging is at all damaged, do not use the condom.

- Open the packet carefully so as not to damage the condom.

- Ensure the condom is not inside out (teat on outside)

- Use a water based lubricant only (e.g. KY jelly or Senselle). Do not use sun cream, vaseline or baby oil as they will perish the rubber.

- Never use a condom more than once.

- If the condom splits seek advice as soon as possible from the TADIC, Family Planning Clinic, or a doctor.

How to use
- Put the condom on before the penis touches the woman's vagina.

- Put the condom on when the man's penis is hard - not before.

- Take the condom out of the packet carefully.

- Tear across the top of the pack carefully (not with teeth!)

- Pinch the end of the condom between finger and thumb and use the other hand to roll the condom all the way over the penis.

- Take the penis out of vagina immediately after the man comes.

- Hold the condom as the penis is removed from the vagina and be careful not to spill any sperm.

- Wrap the condom in a tissue and throw in the bin.
