Pregnancy Tests
Am I or aren't I?
Whether being pregnant is good news or bad, its often the not knowing which is worse. If you have had sex without using contraception, you could be at risk of pregnancy. There is even a risk if sperm comes in to contact with a woman's vagina in any way including from sperm on fingers.
- Pregnancy tests are available free of charge at the TADIC and contraception and sexual health clinics and some pharmacies.
- The results are available almost immediately. If possible you will need to bring along the first urine sample of the day.
- Help and advice is also offered with unplanned pregnancy - a sympathetic ear will listen and will discuss the options available to you and help you reach a decision.
PLEASE REMEMBER
As soon as a man's penis becomes erect, it leaks a few drops of clear liquid called pre-ejaculate and this liquid can contain thousands of sperm. So there's a risk of pregnancy if the penis enters the vagina without contraception being used, even if the man doesn't ejaculate (cum), or withdraws before ejaculating.
